Working at schmidt hammer lassen architects/
Schmidt Hammer Lassen - SHL
In the space of a few years, schmidt hammer lassen architects has become one of Scandinavia's leading architectural firms.
Recent years have also seen the firm earn its place on the international architecture scene through a series of eye-catching projects.
We are working at the dynamic interface between the Nordic tradition and the wider world, and the proportion of foreign projects undertaken is rapidly increasing. As a result, more than half of the firm’s turnover today comes from outside Denmark.
Good architecture puts people first.
This guiding focus has accompanied schmidt hammer lassen architects out into the wider world. A new building is not simply an architectural form. It needs to interact closely with its setting, the functions it incorporates, and the social life played out within it.
A project is only complete when all these considerations have been resolved. Respect, empathy and mutual understanding between clients, users, architects, engineers, advisors and developers is key to the practice’s approach.
schmidt hammer lassen architects was founded in Aarhus in 1986 by architects Morten Schmidt, Bjarne Hammer and John F. Lassen.
Today, the small-scale practice has grown substantially. The firm employs approximately 140 employees at our offices in Aarhus, Copenhagen, London and Shanghai.
The partner group has also grown so that, in addition to the three founders, it now includes Kim Holst Jensen and Kristian Ahlmark, along with four associate partners. Day-to-day management of the firm is the responsibility of CEO Bente Damgaard
