Industrial PhD I – Sustainability/

Industrial PhD project (2007-2010)

Architect and Industrial PhD student Victoria Sjöstedt

Business partner: schmidt hammer lassen architects

Research and development is an integral part of our practice - we believe that architecture of the future will be largely shaped by in-depth knowledge relying on abilities to combine research and practice.

One of our focus areas is sustainable design and, as part of an ongoing process to further extend our understanding of sustainable design in relation to urban development processes, schmidt hammer lassen architects have initiated an industrial PhD. The project began in August 2007 and will be completed in August 2010. It is made in cooperation with architect Victoria Sjöstedt and the Centre for Urban Planning of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture, Copenhagen.

The PhD research focuses on design potentials related to integration of environmental dimensions in urban residential projects. It is carried out as a case study following work processes in architectural practices in Denmark as well as in China.
