Description:

Mirror of the World is the Danish National Museum’s ethnographic jubilee exhibition, which draws on major collections and donations from 1650 to 2000.

Experimenting with the calibration of the balance between the presentation and the exhibited, the exhibition offers a total spatial experience. A capacious and transparent construction of timber, steel and glass provides a systematically organised and vibrant showcase for some 1,200 items displayed behind the glass in a variety of layers and combinations. Visitors can thus move freely over, under and between the protected objects.

A collage of images, light and sound combines objects, individuals and stories to deliver a compelling exhibition engaging all the senses, which both surprises and informs. A grand potpourri of objects transparently showcased.
