Description:
Vejle City Centre “Bryggen” contributes dynamically to the centre of Vejle. With brisk activity from shops and large open café spaces, an indoor city area has been created constituting a finishing touch to the shopping artery of Vejle.
The geometrical shape of the building is based on the form of the surrounding houses, and the distance to the small river will through the break in level of the building and the sculptural geometrics be experienced as varied. The design of the centre contributes to the realization of the recreational green promenade along the river.
The façades of the centre meet the different surroundings in their very own characteristic way, and the materials used are primarily Corten steel with different structures and perforations combined with glass, steel and concrete. There will be variation between open and closed environments and a varying amount of transparency. The building will be illuminated at night and thus stream out through the different facings of the building, creating a dynamic interplay with its surroundings.
